‘A community-controlled organisation implicitly recognises the strength, the expertise and the right to self-determination by First Nations Communities.’
The housing sector strengthening plan is crucial in ensuring that we develop strong, sustainable community-led organisations that will close the housing gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
This work directly impacts Priority Reform 2: Building the Community Controlled Sector and Priority Reform 3: Transforming Government Organisations.
In August 2022 the Housing Sector Strengthening plan was agreed to at the Joint Council, fourteen action items were identified, and NATSIHA was tasked with their implementation.
We have since developed the necessary frameworks, systems, and networks to coordinate the work of all involved parties and ensure the successful delivery of these action items.
NATSIHA is now calling for funding to implement the Housing Sector Strengthening plan in this budget, as the Prime Minister committed to when he handed down the 2024 CTG Implementation Plans.
